THE TELECOMMUNICATION ORDER (9 of 2003)

In exercise of the powers conferred upon it under the Information & Communication Technologies Act 2001, the Information & Communication Technologies Authority (hereinafter referred to as Authority ) hereby makes the following determination in respect of tariff rebalancing proposal submitted by Mauritius Telecom Limited (MT).

1. Short title, extent and commencement:

i. This Order shall be called "The Telecommunication Order (9 of 2003)".

ii. The Telecommunication Order (9 of 2003) shall come into force with immediate effect.

2.     Determination on Tariff Rebalancing proposal of MT

i. The determination of the Authority on items of tariff is specified in Schedule-I hereto.

ii. The new tariff in accordance with the revised charges shall be implemented and reported to the Authority.

Monthly Rental (residential / business)

Residential - Rs 90 per month

Business - Rs 225 per month

Local Call Charges

Rs 0.85 for first minute and Rs 0.01 per second thereafter

International Direct Dialing (IDD) Call Charges

As given in Schedule-II.

Inter Island Call Charges

No change except that operators may charge lower than the currently applicable tariff.

Notes to Schedule-I:  

For the IDD calls carried by MT, an amount of Rs 4 per minute less the operation cost is to be remitted to the ICT Authority. Till the operation cost is determined by the Authority    Rs 1 may be retained towards operation costs and Rs 3 per minute shall be settled on a monthly basis with the Authority to be credited to a special account, as stated in Telecommunication  Order (No. 7 of 2003).
