THE TELECOMMUNICATION ORDER (6 of 2004)

In exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 17(3) of the Information & Communication Technologies Act 2001 (as amended), the Information & Communication Technologies Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority ) hereby issues the following Directive in respect of tariff  for International Direct Dialling (IDD) Calls.

1. Short title, extent and commencement

(i)          This Directive shall be referred to as "The Telecommunication Order (6 of 2004)".

(ii)       Telecommunication Order (6 of 2004) -

(a)         repeals Telecommunication Order (4 of 2004) and Schedule II of Telecommunication Order (9 of 2003); and

(b)        shall henceforth apply  in respect of tariff for International Direct Dialling (IDD) calls.

(iii)     Telecommunication Order (6 of 2004) shall come into force with immediate effect.

2. Determination on Tariff for IDD Calls

Every International Long Distance (ILD) operator shall submit to the Authority a tariff of its charges for the IDD service for approval in accordance with section 31 of the Information and Communication Technologies Act 2001 (as amended).

3. Transitional Provision

Notwithstanding subsections (ii) (a) & (b) of section 1 above, where an operator is already engaged in the provision of the IDD service at the tariff prescribed by Telecom Order 4 of 2004, the said tariff shall continue to apply until a new tariff submitted by the said operator under section 31 of the Information and Communication Technologies Act 2001 has been duly approved by the Authority.
