Consultation On Two-Way Broadband Service for Aircraft in Flight through Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Service in the 14 – 14.5 GHz Band

Port Louis: The Information and Communication Technologies Authority is proposing to authorize the operation of AMSS on board of Mauritian aircraft and for aircraft in flight in Mauritian airspace subject to specific conditions. In light of this proposal, the Authority today released a Consultation Paper on two-way Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Service (AMSS) in the 14 – 14.5 GHz band. This paper is available on the Authority’s web site http://www.icta.mu

AMSS networks have been designed to provide in-flight data (e.g. access to Internet on board aircraft) and entertainment content to passengers and operators of commercial and business aircraft.

Members of the public are invited to send their views and comments in writing on the issues raised in this document to the Executive Director, ICT Authority, 12th Floor The Celicourt, Celicourt Antelme Street, Port Louis, or by email to icta@intnet.mu  by 16h00 on 17 June 2010 at the latest.
